The Golden State Warriors are a National Basketball Association team based in Oakland , California . The Warriors are one of seven teams in the PGolden Stateacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association. The franchise plays in the Arena in Oakland , California , and wears jerseys of blue, white, and gold. The team played as the Philadelphia Warriors until 1962. The Warriors have appeared in three NBA Finals and have won only one NBA Champion title. The franchise has also won six Conference Finals and four Division Championships and also the Warriors have fifteen Playoff Appearances. As the Philadelphia Warriors the club has won the first championship of the Basketball Association of America, in 1947 with a team featured high scoring guard Joe Fulks. In 1956 the Warriors won their first NBA title, with the help of future Hall of Fame members Paul Arizin and Neil Johnston. Behind the scoring trio of Jamaal Wilkes, Rick Barry and Clifford Ray, the Warriors acquired the second NBA title in 1975. In what many consider the biggest upset in the history of the NBA, the Warriors defeated the heavily-favored Washington Bullets in a four-game sweep in the 1975 NBA Finals. The team had another success string of wins in the late 80s and early 90s with the high scoring trio of point guard Tim Hardaway guard Mitch Richmond and forward Chris Mullin. The Warriors enter January of 2006 with a winning percentage.

The Fans hope that 2005-2006 will finally be the season that the team makes the playoffs. DGolden Stateavis and Richardson lead the team in scoring, and the team is getting boost from the younger guys including Ike Diogu who is proving to be valuable low-post scorer the Warriors need, also there is Chris Taft and Monta Ellis. Golden State 's record against teams with a .500 is not good, unless they finish the season with at least 40 wins, they will extend their playoffs drought to 12 years. The Warriors are currently the only major league franchise to exclude the name of their city, metro area, state or region from the team's name. Some of the notable Hall of Famers to play for Warriors includes Nate Thurmond, Paul Arizin, Rick Barry, Wilt Chamberlain, Joe Fulks, Tom Gola, Jerry Lucas and retired numbers includes Wilt Chamberlain, Nate Thurmond, Rick Barry, Al Attles to name a few. Some of the players currently in the Warriors rosters include Derek Fisher, Andris Biedrins, Calbert Cheaney, Baron Davis, and Jason Richardson.
